The Dental Cleaning Process

Professional dental cleanings usually follow a comprehensive oral exam. Once we have finished your exam, unless your team at 815 Dental Studio has identified the presence of gum disease, we will perform a dental cleaning or prophylaxis. If you have been diagnosed with gum disease, we will strongly recommend a deeper cleaning to first eliminate the source of the disease and to allow your soft tissue to heal.

During the first step of your dental cleaning, we use a handheld scaler or an ultrasonic scaler to deliberately remove any debris, calculus, and plaque from the enamel surface of each tooth, between your teeth, and around your gum line.

When this scaling is completed, we then follow up with a polishing procedure using a special paste on each tooth. We will meticulously floss your teeth as well.

To complete your dental cleaning, you will also receive diagnostic and preventive services from 815 Dental Studio as well as beneficial educational information.

An extensive and thorough oral cancer examination and screening.
